Marie Alberta Woodruff VanDeMark, 89, of Laceyville PA, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

Born on May 17, 1926 in Transue, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Elizabeth Frisbie Woodruff.

On November 26, 1941, she married Elwyn John VanDeMark. Marie worked at the family farm, the sewing factory and Bendix Corporation in South Montrose for 29 years until she retired in 1988. She belonged to the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Lodge 923, volunteered at Tyler Hospital, she was a member of Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, The Oldest House, Senior Citizens of Wyalusing and The Wyoming County Historical Society. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, working in her flower gardens, crocheting, genealogy, making quilts in South Auburn and traveling. Over the years she traveled to 7 countries and across many states including California, Florida and Hawaii.

Marie is survived by her children, Ellen (Joe) McClain of Laceyville; Donald (Cheryl) VanDeMark of Laceyville; Keith (Rita) VanDeMark of Laceyville; Connie (Michael) Goodwin of Mehoopany; Audrey (Robin) Benjamin of Sugar Run; Deborah (John) Carter of Sugar Run. Grandchildren Vince McClain of Montdale; Shawn (Debbie) McClain of Waxhaw, NC; Leslee Clark of Laceyville; Stacey (Chris) Schwartztrauber of Tunkhannock; Todd (Megan) VanDeMark of Wyalusing; Michael (Heather) VanDeMark of Dillsburg; Kelly (Glenn) Okken of Reading; Jason (Hillary) VanDeMark of Laceyville; Travis (Brianna) Fryer of Mehoopany; Shane (Michelle) Fryer of Laceyville; Liza (Preston) Murfin of Chugiak, AK; Brandon Jennings of Laceyville; Cody Jennings of Sugar Run; Donald (Lisa) Carter of Schuylkill Haven; Kylie Carter of Sugar Run; John (Crystal) Carter of Towanda. Great Grandchildren Ryan, Casey and Paige McClain; Riley, Korie and Ella McClain; McKennan and Ireland Clark; Adonia, Jordan, Courtney and Lindsey Schwartztrauber; Lucas VanDeMark; Andrew and Olivia Okken; Kevin and Jaxon VanDeMark; Alexis, Tristin and Brynn Fryer; Kaylee and Jacob Fryer; Kassidy, Evangeline and Dominic Murfin; Emily Carter; Curtis Blanton; Gracie Carter. Great Great Grandchildren; Brock and Myla McClain and Mia Barziloski. Also two sister in laws; Veda Woodruff, of Wyalusing; and Pam Woodruff of Laceyville, PA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins .


She was preceded in death by her husband Elwyn on July 23, 1999; her father, Burt Woodruff on February 28, 1973; her mother Elizabeth Frisbie Woodruff on December 7, 1978; her sisters Vera Salsman on August 1, 1995; Irene Brown on September 15, 2004; Cathryn White on December 19, 1992; Gertrude Salsman on January 22, 1981; Berneta Snyder on April 18, 1978; her brothers Ralph Woodruff on Oct. 5, 2011; Gerald Woodruff on January 16, 2002; grandson Donald VanDeMark II on January 19, 1994.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, August 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM, at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church with Pastor Dolly Tarreto of the church officiating. Interment will follow at North Flat Cemetery, in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday evening, August 27, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie's name to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart; 112 Clay Ave. Scranton, PA 18510 or to the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church, 113 Doolittle Hill Rd. Laceyville, PA 18623.
