Mark James Shingler of Meshoppen, PA unexpectedly passed away Thursday afternoon September 11, 2014. Mark was born April 25, 1985 in Allentown, PA the son of the late Mark Todd Shingler, who passed away October 23, 2013 and Mary Payne of Sayre, PA

Mark was a man of many interests. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children Amber and Derek. His little dog Tony was a constant companion of Mark's and was always by his side. Big Elk Lake was a favorite gathering spot of Mark's where he loved to spend time outdoors camping and fishing. He was an overall sports enthusiast and an avid fan of the New York Giants. Mark greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a big-hearted man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor that was appreciated by all who knew him.

Mark is survived by his two children Amber "Bird" Shingler of Laceyville, PA and Derek Shingler of Baltimore, MD. Also surviving is his mother Mary Payne of Sayre, PA; brother David Sands of Athens, PA; sister Jessica Arnold of Elk Lake, PA; nephew Kyle Sands of Athens, PA; paternal grandmother Alma Shingler of Meshoppen, PA; maternal grandmother Phyllis Haas of Sayre, PA. Mark is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Besides his father, Mark was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather James R. Shingler (June 5, 2006) and his uncle Scott Allen Shingler (July 29, 2013).

A graveside service will be held in Mark's memory on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at the Jersey Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gary Myers, a long time family friend officiating.
