Mary Lee Goodwin, age 79, of Mehoopany passed away on Monday afternoon, August 26, 2024 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center while surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 17, 1945 in Laceyville, PA, daughter of the late Maynard J. (d. Sept. 12, 1998) and Minnie Hawley (d. Sept. 20, 2005) Bowman.  She grew up in Laceyville and attended the Laceyville and Wyalusing Schools.  She then attended Empire Beauty School and became a beautician, owning and operating her own salon for many years.  She also worked in area dress factories and was later employed by Whipple Brothers Lumber as Office Manager.  Later in life, she served as the Tax Collector for Mehoopany.

Being born in April, spring was Mary Lee's favorite time of the year and she always looked forward to the arrival of the flowers, trees, and most importantly, the first "peepers" of the year, as that signaled that winter was over.

Mary Lee is survived by her daughter Marci and her husband, Greg of Mehoopany, PA and her son, Mike and his wife, Tammy of Russell Hill. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Nathan Goodwin and his wife, Kate of Clarks Green; Ryan Goodwin and his fiancé Mya of Russell Hill; Jourdn Wall and his wife, Stacy of Dallas, Jessie Lee Wall (John) of West Wyoming; and Molly Goodwin (Kevin) of Russell Hill. Also surviving Mary Lee are her great-grandchildren, Avery and Ben Goodwin of Clarks Green; and Charlie and Gia Goodwin of Russell Hill.

She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

Along with her parents, Mary Lee is preceded in death by her brothers, Maynard and Merton Bowman; her sisters-in-law, Virginia and Karen Bowman; her baby sister, Marlene, and her infant brother.

At her request, there will be no services or calling hours, and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Lee's name to a local animal shelter of the donor's choosing.
