Mary Jane Heim, age 95, of New Albany, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Mary Jane was born on June 24, 1930, in Tamaqua, PA. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Louise Gangloff Heim. She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1948.
She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Wilmot Grange #512. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and fishing. She was a fantastic baker and was famous for her pies.
Mary Jane helped on the farm and took great pleasure in hosting vacationers at the farm’s Seldom Inn. She would substitute in the cafeteria at the New Albany and Wyalusing schools and clean local houses. When she was younger, she was a waitress.
On April 12, 2008, she married John Levi Huffman and were married until his passing on March 8, 2017.
Mary Jane is survived by her siblings, Verna Smith of Delta, PA, and Arlene Wertman of Orwigsburg, PA. Mary Jane is also survived by her nieces and nephews; Dennis Heim and wife, Aimee of Jamison, PA, Barbara Tessier and husband Brant of New Albany, Donald Mairose and wife Rebecca of Schuylkill Haven, PA, Daniel Smith and wife Celena of Delta, PA, Nancy Firestone of Newport, PA, Chere Riedel and husband Robert of Anna, Illinois, Collette Wertman of Orwigsburg, PA, Sheryl and Carol Weston of Summit Hill, PA. Mary Jane is survived by great-nephews and nieces; Ian Heim of Jamison, PA, Allison Speier and husband David of Disputanta, VA, Bailey Tessier of Harrisburg, PA, Bradley Tessier of New Albany, PA, and great-great-niece Aimee Speier of Disputanta, VA. John’s family, Donald and Anita Huffman of Ocean Springs, MS, Gayle Huffman of Sugar Run, PA, and Dawn and Charles Nichols, Jr. of Lime Hill, PA; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Mae and Walter Mairose, Jack and Shirley Weston, and Floyd and Beverly Heim.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the St. John’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Robert Brown officiating.
