Mary K. Hughes Winterringer, age 90, of Rummerfield Mountain, PA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at her home. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and is now free of pain and suffering.
Mary was born on November 28, 1925 the daughter of the late Maurice and Ellen Hughes. She was a graduate of the Coconut Grove High School in Miami, FL. After graduating high school she studied and practiced nursing for a few years before she became a housewife and homemaker for her family. She married the late James Sterling Winterringer in 1944.
Mary was a talented porcelain painter and loved sharing her paintings with family and friends. She was a member of the New York Porcelain Painters Association. Mary was also a member of the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville and shared her faith and love for the Lord with all who would listen.
Mary is survived by her daughter Sandra Lee Hammer of Rummerfield Mountain, PA; her son Jeffrey Alan Winterringer and his wife Kathy and Newark, DE; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Nancy Winterringer of Wyalusing, PA; sister Pauline Cook of Miramar, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, James Sterling Winterringer, who passed on November 27, 2010, Mary was preceded in death by a son Daniel Rodger Winterringer who passed on November 16, 2008; son James Sterling Winterringer III who passed on July 26, 2013; grandson Jeffrey Alan Winterringer Jr., who passed on April 18, 2002; and sister Evelyn Paula. She will be missed by all and her love for each one was so evident.
Funeral services for Mary will be held on Monday morning, April 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA with Reverend Thomas Davis of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Standing Stone Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
