Mary Ellen Tinna, age 95, of Mehoopany, PA passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.
She was born on March 20, 1926 in Mehoopany, PA the daughter of the late Fred J. (d. November 2, 1970) and Lucy Bloom Kintner, Sr. (d. September 24, 1988). She was the last living graduate of the Mehoopany High School Class of 1944.
Mary was employed as a Telephone Operator in Laceyville where she met the love of her life, Gerald, "Tim" Raymond Tinna. They wed on June 17, 1949. After marriage she became a housewife and homemaker for her family. When all of the children graduated from high school, she gained employment as a cook at the Dairy Bar in Mehoopany and as a cashier at the Riverview Center in Mehoopany.
In her younger years, Mary enjoyed pitching on her softball teams. She took great pleasure in collecting glassware, especially milk glass, tending to her flower garden and hanging baskets. During her time at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home, she became a competitive BINGO player. Mary loved attending her grandchildren's sporting activities and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Gerald Tinna (Jason) of Hot Springs, AR, David Tinna of Sugar Run, PA, Barbara Sierotowicz (Joseph) of York, PA, Rick Tinna (Nancy) of Tunkhannock, PA, and Ronald "Sam" Tinna (Shelly) of Laceyville, PA; her 7 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-great-grandchildren plus one on the way; her sister, Nancy Kintner, of Forkston, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Gerald "Tim" Raymond Tinna (d. February 4, 2021), her daughter-in-law Mary Tinna (d. August 4, 2020), her great-granddaughter, Abigail Tinna (d. August 27, 2012), and her brother, Fred Kintner, Jr. (d. February 13, 2015)
Abiding by her wishes a private funeral service will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA. Interment will take place at the Lacey Street Cemetery.
