Michael Harcarik, age 73, of Laceyville, PA passed away at his home on Saturday morning, August 12, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Somerville, NJ on September 21, 1949, he was the son of the late Andrew R. (d. 1958) and Helen Kozic Harcarik (d. 2000). After graduating from Bridgewater-Raritan High School West in 1967 and completing two years at Devry Tech in Union, NJ, Michael would join the United States Air Force where he served from 1968-1972. He spent much of his time in the Air Force serving in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, stationed in places such as Thailand, South Korea, and Okinawa.
Michael was a lifetime member of the Martinsville, NJ VFW #6588 and the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion in Black Walnut. He was also a valued member of the Rought Hall Post #510 Legion Riders, serving as Road Captain and Vice President during his time with them.
Michael enjoyed motorcycles, music, and the company of friends. He had a small collection of guitars that he would play regularly. He also taught himself to play the keyboard. Michael loved to travel and enjoyed seeing America from the seat of his motorcycle, either alone or with friends. His adventures would take him to places such as Colorado to see his sister, and most recent trip to the west coast.
He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Prentice of Laceyville, PA; his sons, Andrew and Michael Harcarik of Raritan, NJ; his daughter, Kimberly Harcarik (Robert Kozic) of Bangor, PA; his sister, Carole Clark of Pueblo, CO; his nephew, Jonathan Clark of Nampa, ID, and many cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, John Harcarik (d. 1958).
A memorial service for Michael will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623 on Thursday, August 17 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Harold Schorr of the Center Moreland United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until the time of service. A Military Honors Service will follow the Memorial Service at the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion in Black Walnut, PA at 3:00 PM. A private burial will take place on a later date at the convenience of the family.
