Mickey G. Sible, age 64, of West Auburn, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2023 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Meshoppen, PA on November 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Howard L. and Mary Jane LaRue Sible. Growing up in the West Auburn area, Mickey developed his love for the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He also loved to play baseball with his Little League team and the other children in the community. Mickey attended Elk Lake High School and graduated with the class of 1976.
Mickey worked for Proctor & Gamble for several years before focusing on the gun and tackle shop that he had started in his basement. Sible & Sons Bait & Tackle would grow into a well-known business and become a go to for many of the area's outdoorsman where Mickey was always available to offer his advice or discuss the passions he shared with his customers.
When not in the shop, Mickey pursued his passion for the outdoors that he had developed as a child, spending may hours hunting and fishing. For many years, Mickey was a member of the Tug's Tavern softball team. He also enjoyed bowling and watching sports while cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Yankees in baseball, and the New York Giants in football. Mickey was a member of the NRA and a Free Mason with the Franklin Lodge #263 in Laceyville, PA. Most of all, Mickey loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he absolutely adored.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Sherri Sible of West Auburn, PA; his sons, Mickey Sible II (Becky) of West Auburn, PA and Andrew Sible (Nicole) of West Auburn, PA; his grandchildren, Makayla Sible of West Auburn, PA, Madison Sible of West Auburn, PA, Paisely Sible, of West Auburn, PA, Mickey Sible III of West Auburn, PA, Hudson James Sible of West Auburn, PA, and Oakley Jean Sible of West Auburn, PA; and his brother, Jack Sible (Jeanne) of Laceyville, PA. Mickey is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sharon Newberry of Laceyville, PA, his sister-in-law, Sandy Corson (Jeff) of Willamsport, PA; and his brother-in-law, Matthew Newberry (Lorie) of Lake Stevens, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service for Mickey will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 6:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623 with Reverend Charlie Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickey's name to the Laceyville Public Library, 453 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623 or the charity of the donor's choosing.
