Obituary

Mildred Josephine Goodwin, age 86, of Laceyville, PA, known as Millie Jo to her friends and loved ones, passed from this earth on Thursday morning, February 15, 2018, at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Millie was born in Stevens Township on November 9, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Doris M. (Warner) Pennay (d. April 14, 1996) and Cecil H. Pennay (d. December 31, 1963).

Millie married Jesse B. Goodwin, of Laceyville, on August 16, 1947. They were married for 70 years and raised a family of six. Their children are as follows: Bonnie (James) Manahan of Warrenton, VA; Gary (Kathie) Goodwin of East Smithfield, PA; Mark (Barbara) Goodwin of Gloucester, VA; Teri (Jim) Burgess of Dillsburg, PA; Tim (Dianna) Goodwin of Wyalusing, PA; and Todd (Lynelle) Goodwin of Wyalusing, PA.

In addition to her husband, Jake, Millie is survived by her brother, Harold Pennay. Millie is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers and sisters, Eugene Pennay, Clarence Pennay, Ruth Downing, Eula Dalo, and Clara Halstead.
Millie was a mother and homemaker first and foremost; but she also worked as a waitress, a Studio Girl consultant, and for many years maintained the offices of Dr. Karl Peterson. Millie also worked at the Laceyville Sewing Factory as well as Service America within the Proctor and Gamble Plant in Mehoopany, PA. She was also known at one time for the beautiful wedding cakes she made and delivered for her customers. She also enjoyed ceramics, reading, and her Kindle. Most of all Millie loved and enjoyed her family, particularly her 25 grandchildren (including spouses) and 21 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Millie will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Reverend Lloyd Vaughn of the Independent Baptist Church, Towanda, PA officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff and aides at Guthrie Towanda Hospital and Skilled Nursing Unit who have provided care and comfort for our wife and mother over the last 5 years.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Laceyville Public Library, PO Box 68, Laceyville, PA 18623 in Millie's name.
