Mrs. Nadine Hazel Gavazzi, age 83, of SR 367, Laceyville, PA. , passed away at her home in West Auburn, on Saturday evening, August 30, 2014, after a illness of several months.
Born on August 9, 1931 in Kendallville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Charles Walter and Hazel Wallace Emerick. Growing up in Indiana, Nadine was a graduate of the Kendaleville High School.
Mrs. Gavazzi then moved to New Jersey and became the secretary at Union Tire and Appliance. This is where she met her husband, Gene Gavazzi, who passed away on July 24, 2001. After Mr. and Mrs. Gavazzi's retirement they move to West Auburn.
After moving to the area, Mrs. Gavazzi was very active in the Silvara community, where she was a member of the Silvara United Methodist Church, the Transue Community Church, and also an active member of the Silvara Ladies Aide Society, serving as it's treasurer for many years. Nadine was also a member of the South Auburn Grange #1188, and the Meshoppen Chapter #70 of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered many hours at the Cozy Coroner at the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, PA. as well at the Rape and Crisis Center of Bradford County, in Towanda, PA.
Surviving are her two sons and their wives, Gino G. and Lori Gavazzi, of N. Plainfield, NJ; and Gregg G. and Shirley Gavazzi of West Auburn, PA., and her daughter and her husband, Gina and Alan Garrison, of Auburn Four Coroners, PA., as well as her 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gavazzi is also survived by her brother Delane Emerick, of Kendaleville, IN, and many nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Gavazzi.
With abiding with the wishes of Mrs. Gavazzi, there will be no funeral services. Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA. on Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Committal services will immediately follow at the St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Exeter, PA, with Rev. Beverly Murphy, retired Methodist minister, officiating.
