Nancy Ruth Ayers, 87, of Tunkhannock, formerly of Mehoopany, passed away on December 25, 2023 after a brief illness.  She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Earle "Doc" Ayers.

Born on May 25, 1936, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Harold Tarbox and Blanche Ruth Walker.  She was a graduate of West Scranton High School and was a secretary by trade.

She was instrumental in the daily operation of the family business, Ayers Chiropractic. She had a keen sense of decoration and was well known for her seasonal decorations in both the house and office.

Nancy loved family gatherings and also spending time with the family at the beach.  She was an active participant in all of the fun and games, which seemed to keep her young at heart.  She attended Mehoopany United Methodist Church in Mehoopany and Bridgewater Church in Tunkhannock.

Nancy was preceded in death by her sister Betty Tarbox Kates and son in law Francis Howell.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Kim Ayers Howell, sons Keith (Vickie) Ayers and Kevin (Karin) Ayers, grandchildren Megan, Aaron (Ann Marie) and Collin Howell, Christopher Ayers, and Nathan (Jennifer), Tenleigh (Adam), Tierney (Joey), Reece (Sarah), and Carson (Rachel) Ayers. She had numerous great grandchildren, and was affectionately known as Me Maw to all.  As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A public Celebration of Life Services, for Earle and Nancy Ayers will be held at the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion, in Black Walnut, PA, on July 6, 2024 at 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM.  As per their wishes a chicken BBQ with food and drink will be provided.  Military Honors Services for Earle will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion.
