Nancy Jayne Bennett age 85, formally of Laceyville, PA, went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, PA. She was born in Sayre, PA on May 19,1939 to Fred A. and Susie (Waterman) Jayne. Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Calvin Bennett, on June 8, 1957 at the Camptown Methodist Church. She and Dick enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage before his death on January 14, 2009.
Growing up in the Camptown area, Nancy attended the Camptown High School, and would later graduate from the Wyalusing Valley High School, with the class of 1957.
After several moves across the country in their early marriage, Dick and Nancy finally settled on the former Hawley farm on Crow Hill Road, Wyalusing, PA. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was always ready with a home cooked meal for family, friends and even the periodic delivery man who Dick would invite in for a bite to eat. In addition to being a wonderful cook and baker, Nancy knew her way around a sewing machine and quilting needle. She created many beautiful outfits, blankets and pillows for her family and friends. She had been active in many church, community and school functions.
Nancy is survived by her children, Charlotte Rene' (Randy) Brigham of Laceyville, PA, Constance Ruth (Charles) Patterson of York, PA, Carol Rae Mallory of Uvalde, TX, and Adam Calvin (Christian) Bennett of Sayre, PA, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Charlotte (Richard) Place of Laceyville, PA and Joan Jayne of Florida and many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Clarence and Peggy Jayne, Bowen and Betty Jayne, Galen and Athalie Jayne, Don and Betty (Jayne) Chaffee, Robert Jayne, Sid and Ruth (Jayne) Ervine, and her son-in-law, Michael Mallory.
A celebration of life service for Nancy, will be held on Tuesday morning, July 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Rev. Ron Dyer, of the D.O.E Charge of Sullivan and Bradford Counties. Internment will be in the Camptown Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Endless Mountains Crisis Pregnancy Center, PO Box 42, Canton PA 17724.
