Obituary

Nancy June Jennings, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 10, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born on February 14, 1942, Nancy entered the world on a day meant for love, and she spent her life embodying exactly that.

Nancy’s early years were marked by profound loss, having lost her parents at a young age. Those hardships shaped her into a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and tenderness. She became a mother at a young age, and from that moment forward, her life was rooted in caring for others.

At just 15 years old, she married the love of her life, Robert Jennings, Sr., on August 31, 1957. Their marriage was a true partnership – steady, loyal, and filled with the kind of quiet devotion that lasts a lifetime. Though Robert preceded her in passing, their bond remained unbroken.

Nancy spent many years working at Bocar Dress Factory, where her talent and creativity flourished. She used the skills she gained there to lovingly sew clothes for her children and grandchildren, stitching care into every seam. Later, she continued her life of service as a caregiver, and even spent time working in real estate, all while being a full-time mother to four children. Her hands were always busy – writing, sewing, gardening, and babysitting.

Nancy leaves behind her four children: Darlene Jennings, Robert Jennings, Jr. (Tammy), Keith Jennings (Ann Marie), and Douglas Jennings. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Devin Brewer, Justin Jennings, Ashley Jennings, Robert Jennings III, Amanda Jennings, Brandon Jennings, and Cody Jennings; her great-grandchildren: Hailee Jennings, Travis Jennings, Marlie Jennings, Deegan Jennings, Natalie Jennings, Kaitlyn Brewer, Peyton Kelly, and Lane Farr; as well as her beloved sisters-in-law, Marlene Ladner and Roxanne Ladner.

She is reunited in spirit with her beloved husband, Robert Jennings, Sr. (d. November 11, 2021); her siblings, Betty Brewer (d. July 19, 1984), Jesse Ladner, Jr. (d. 1932), Joan Inman (d. May 14, 2011), Ruthann Scapillato (d. April 9, 2014), Kathleen Dunbar (d. May 24, 2015), Jim Ladner (d. July 4, 2012), Dick Ladner (d. October 17, 2011), and Don Ladner (d. August 1, 1995); and her parents, Jesse Ladner (d. August 25, 1953) and Ruth Oplinger Ladner (d. September 27, 1954).

Nancy also leaves behind her loyal dog, Scooter, who remained faithfully by her side.

A special thanks to Chris, Karrie, Joyce, Jennifer, Heather and the rest of the staff at Allied Hospices Services in Scranton.

A Funeral Service will be held for Nancy at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Main St., Meshoppen, PA 18630 on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Gary Myers officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from on Friday 11:00 until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen, PA.
