Norma Jean Campbell, age 85, of Clapper Hill, PA passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday morning, January 7, 2024.
Norma Jean was born on January 16, 1938 on the family farm on Clapper Hill. She was the daughter of the late Walter Henry Sharer (d. September 5, 1998) and Mable Wootton Sharer (d. March 27, 1978). She was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1955.
After high school she was employed with the Grange National Bank and Tuscarora Wayne Insurance Company. She married Arden S. Campbell on September 15, 1956 and became a devoted housewife and homemaker for her family after their first child was born.
Norma Jean was a member of the Stevensville Presbyterian Church and the Stevensville Birthday Club. She was a talented musician and could play the piano, guitar, and accordion by just hearing the music. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and fairy garden, feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds, and doing puzzles. She took great pleasure in traveling, in particular going to Yellowstone, Nashville, Dollywood, and day long trips with her family. Most of all she loved to spend time with and cook for her family every Sunday and holidays.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years Arden Campbell; her children, Randy (Sandy) Campbell of Clapper Hill, PA, Ricky (Robin) Campbell of LeRaysville, PA, Lynn (Christine) Campbell of Clapper Hill, PA, Linda Bennett of Laceyville, PA, and Aaron (Andrea) Campbell of Clapper Hill, PA; her grandchildren, Greg (Amanda) Campbell, Amber (Robert) Heed, Erick Campbell, Riley Campbell, Alex (Kerstian) Campbell, Danielle (Adam) Frutiger, Kevin Bennett, Olivia Campbell, and Hayden Campbell; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ronald Sharer and Kenneth (Nancy) Sharer; her brothers/sisters-in-law, Ronald Campbell, Robert Franklin, Barbara and Roger Cook, and Joyce Sharer; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steven Bennett (d. December 10, 2022); her father/mother-in-law, Fred and Alice Campbell; her brothers, Ralph Sharer (d. June 28, 2007) and Howard Sharer (d. June 25, 2019); and her sisters-in-law, Janice Franklin and Karen Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held for Norma Jean on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis of the Beaver Meadows Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at the Camptown Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Norma Jean's name to the Beaver Meadows Church Inc., 2198 Clapper Hill Road, Laceyville, PA 18623.
