Mrs. Norma Evelyn Gamble Baldwin, age 87, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 3, 2016, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA.
Norma was born in Sugar Run, PA. on March 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Earl J. and Evelyn Garey Gamble. Growing up in the Sugar Run, and Wyalusing area, Norma was a graduate of the Wyalusing High School, she would later graduate from Bloomsburg University, with her teaching degree.
For many years she was a teacher in the Elkland, Wyalusing Valley, and Sullivan County High Schools, teaching English, and also teaching many commercial courses.
Mrs. Baldwin, was the wife of Robert L. Baldwin, to whom she was married to for over 63 years.
Living most of their married life in the Wyalusing area, Norma was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church, the Wyalusing Chapter of Eastern Star; and throughout the years, enjoyed joining her husband, traveling many miles following the Wyalusing sports teams, including the Wyalusing Valley Rams Sports teams, and the Wyalusing American Legion Baseball teams. Whether it be a home or away game, they would always be in the crowd cheering their beloved Wyalusing teams.
Surviving is her faithful husband of 63 years, Robert L. Baldwin of Sugar Run, PA; her sister in laws, Marian Timson, of Johnson City, NY, and Mable Gamble, of Sugar Run, PA, and a brother in law, David Baldwin, of Woodstock, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Earlyn (Bill) D. Gamble, on Nov. 6, 2011, and her father and mother in laws, Archie and Letha Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA. with Rev. Heather Baker-McAllister, of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church officiating, Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions the donor's favorite Wyalusing Valley High School Booster Club or to the charity of the donor's choice.
