Mr. Paul E. Crisman, age 82, formally of Meshoppen, (Retta), PA, passed away at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, in Scranton, PA. on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2015. Before residing at Gino Merli in Scranton, Paul was a resident of the Wyalusing Personal Care Home, in Wyalusing for a number of years.
Paul was born on May 15, 1933 in Meshoppen PA, the son of the late Floyd and Gertrude Lyman Crisman. Growing up in the Meshoppen area and after attending the Meshoppen and Elk Lake High Schools, he then entered the US Military. Paul proudly served his country with the US Air Force, for 21 years, retiring in 1972. Retiring as a Tech Sergeant, he served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. While in the service he was also a member of the Air Force Softball Team, for many years, as a member of their pitching staff. After his military career he and his family returned to the Meshoppen area, working for many years, as a dispatcher for the Kintner Trucking Company, and as a parts manager for the 87 Sales and Service, both in Meshoppen. From 1975 until retiring in 1986, Paul was an owner and operator school bus contractor for the Elk Lake School District.
Paul was the husband of the former Nancy M. Tyler, whom he married on September 15, 1956. Paul and Nancy were married for 55 years, until her death on September 5, 2012.
Paul attended the Retta United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Retta Men's Club, and also the Meshoppen Men's Club, for many years. In his younger years, after returning to the Meshoppen, area, he was a member of many softball teams in the Meshoppen and surrounding areas. Paul was also very active in the Meshoppen and surrounding community's activities and functions. In his spare time he also enjoyed the time he got to spend with his family and friends, while out fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his three daughters, Tammy Perry, of Tunkhannock, PA. and his twin daughters, Teresa Hennessy, of South Waverly, PA; and Lisa Tesluk, of Tunkhannock, PA, his grandchildren; Paul T. Tesluk, of Jermyn, PA; Michael J. Tesluk, of Scranton, PA; Adam Hennessy, of South Waverly, PA; and Ryan Perry, of Tunkhannock, PA. Also surviving are three sisters, Elaine (William) Fuller, of Slingerlands, NY; Mary Jane Crisman, of Radnor, PA; and Kathy Shepherd, of Lincoln Mass, a sister in law, Nancy Tyler, of Meshoppen, PA; and a brother in law and sister in law, Richard and Aurora Tyler of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Crisman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, PA. with a long time family friend, Ms. Toni Ruark officiating. Interment will be in the Jersey Hill Cemetery, in Auburn, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening, December 18, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Military services will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion, the Dennis Strong Post # 457 American Legion; and the Endless Mountains Post # 3583 V.F.W.
