Pauline W. Jayne, age 99, of Wyalusing, PA (formerly of Spring Hill for over 65 years) passed away Friday evening, December 18, 2015 at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home;
where she has been a resident for the last 5 years.
Pauline just missed celebrating her 100th birthday, as she was born on January 25, 1916 on Spring Hill, PA the daughter of the late Harry who passed away January 4, 1966, and Carrie Hendershot Whitmiller who passed away September 29, 1974. Growing up on Spring Hill, Pauline graduated from Camptown High School with the class of 1934.
She was the wife of the late Jacob "Jake" T. Jayne. They were three months shy of celebrating their 55th anniversary, before his passing away on August 29, 1990.
She was member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church. Her life was spent around her loving family and home. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing.
Pauline is survived by her sons Ralph Jayne and his wife Bonnie of Laceyville, PA and Eldon Jayne and his wife Barbara of Spring Hill, PA; her six grandchildren Brian Jayne and his wife Patty of Laurel, MD, Diana Patton and her husband Chad of Tunkhannock, PA, Paul Jayne of York, PA, Larry Edwards and his wife Julie of Sanford, MI, Kimberly Edwards of Erie, PA, and Arkadia Jayne of Spring Hill, PA; 13 great-grandchildren; her step-son Cory Jayne of LeRaysville, PA; and a sister in law, Frenchie Whitmiller, formally of Spring Hill, PA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her infant son in 1947, her brother William "Bill" H. Whitmiller in 1996, and her sister Elva Barto in 2006.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA with her niece Reverend Patricia Newhart, retired Methodist minister officiating. Interment will follow at Lacey Street Cemetery, in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 10:00 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
