Peter Walter Jr., age 80, of Wyalusing, PA, passed away Wednesday evening, December 7, 2016 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Pete was born on April 8, 1936, the son of the late Peter and Nellie Armitage Walter Sr. in Sayre, PA. He attended Wyalusing Valley High School. On May 22, 1956, he married the former Lois Jeannette Farr. Pete worked for PennDot for 28 years until his retirement in 2001. Pete enjoyed to go fishing, ice fishing, and hunting. In his spare time he spent many hours working on vehicles with his good friend Romaine Salsman.

Besides his wife of 60 years, survivors include his son Peter Walter III of Wyalusing, PA; son Robert Walter (Delilah Van Houten) of Laceyville, PA; daughter Deborah Smith (Terry Williams) of Factoryville, PA; son Paul Walter of Wyalusing, PA; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Mary Fassett; brothers, William (Mary) Walter, Frank (Geraldine) Walter, Howard Walter, and James Walter; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Pete was preceded in death by his son Duane Allen Walter Sr. (March 25, 2009), sister Elsie Fassett, and brother George Walter.

Funeral services for Pete will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Reverend Dolly Tarreto of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Camptown Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
