Peter Gordon Parsons, age 69, of West Auburn, PA passed away on Monday evening, May 16, 2022 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Peter was born on July 5, 1952 in Cooperstown, NY the son of the late Gordon (d. 1991) and Jean Frasier Parsons (d. 1992). He grew up in New York and graduated from Cherry Valley High School with the class of 1970. He continued his education at Cornell University and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Sciences in 1975.
He married Nancy Laskaris on September 29, 1979. Peter was employed with Proctor & Gamble in the Family Care Department for 17 years before retiring in 2015.
Peter enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was a great historian of New York especially the Adirondacks area where he had a family camp and enjoyed canoeing, fishing, and hiking. He took great pleasure in listening to music, particularly to artists that told a story with his/her songs. Peter was always willing to give. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Parsons; his children, Laura (Parsons) Sharkey and her husband, Joseph of Deerfield, NY and Amy Crowley of Matamoras, PA; his grandchildren, Karen and Patrick Sharkey of Deerfield, NY; his sisters/brothers-in-law, Linda and David Taylor of Montrose, PA, Pat and George Mowry of South Auburn, PA, Judy Fitch of Springville, PA, Debra and Scott Tyler of South Auburn, PA, Diane and Arden Baker of Auburn Center, PA and Susan and Fred Saxer of Wyalusing, PA; his nieces and nephews Penny Smith of Medway, MA, Rebecca Utter of Gainesville, VA, Matthew Utter of Cherry Valley, NY, Theodore Kirk, of New York, NY, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret (Parsons) Kirk and Karen (Parsons) Utter.
A Memorial Service for Peter will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 6:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis of the Beaver Meadows Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at a later date at the Jersey Hill Cemetery.
He would often donate to the Huntington's Disease Society of America and to Boys Town. He was always appreciative of life. He was a recipient of a lung transplant and it was his wishes to donate what he could to the Gift of Life when he passed.
