Philip L. Jayne, age 81, of Meshoppen, PA passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Phil was born on September 3, 1932 in Meshoppen, PA the son of the late Walter and Beatrice Pierson Jayne. He was a graduate of Meshoppen High School with the class of 1950.
He owned and operated the family farm, Jayne Farm, in Meshoppen, PA. He was a truck driver back in the beginning years of Meshoppen Stone. In addition he drove school bus for many years for the Elk Lake School District.
Phil was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Pink Apple in Tunkhannock, PA. He also liked to go bowling.
Phil is survived by his children, Donald Jayne and his wife Beth of Meshoppen, PA, Ronald Jayne of Meshoppen, PA, Gary Jayne and his wife Eileen, of Meshoppen, PA, Philis Notley and her husband Robert of Laurel Springs, NJ, and Brenda Jayne Cimakasky and her fiancé Dan Decker of Meshoppen, PA; his 10 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); his brother David Jayne of Allentown, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made through Sheldon Funeral Homes, Main St., Meshoppen, PA.
