Obituary

Phyllis Kay Spencer, age 68, of Camptown, PA passed away Friday morning, June 13, 2025 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Phyllis was born on May 10, 1957 in Johnson City, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Kermit L. Goodenough (d. February 8, 2018) and Thelma J. Goodenough (d. September 2, 2013).  She attended Wyalusing Valley High School.

She was employed with Red's Mobil Service Station and later Pen-Mart for 20 plus years. She also worked for Momma D's, Town Tavern, and the Marie Antoinette Restaurants.

As a child, Phyllis attended the Camptown Community Church.  She was a member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post 534 Auxiliary.  She enjoyed playing BINGO and visit casinos.  She and her husband, Tony, thoroughly enjoyed traveling, whether it would be to flee markets, NASCAR races, or trips to Maine, Tennessee or California.  Her family always looked forward to the holidays when she would bake the best cookies.  She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren were her world.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, James "Tony" Spencer; her children, Melissa Showalter and her husband, Alan, of Wyalusing, PA and Lucas Spencer of Camptown, PA; her grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew Spencer of Camptown, PA and Hunter Spencer of Oil City, PA; her brother, Robert Goodenough and his wife, Christine of Terrytown, PA; her stepmother, Loretta Goodenough of Zephyrhills, FL; special friends, Mike and Sherrie Roberts of Lakeside, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Andrew Spencer.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Helen Learn of the Camptown Community Church officiating.  Interment will follow at the Camptown Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Phyllis's name to the Wyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 86, Wyalusing, PA 18853.
