Raymond G. Anderson, age 57, of 12 Jackson St., Dallas, PA. formally of the Tunkhannock, and Wyalusing area, passed away unexpectedly at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital in Wilkes Barre, PA. on Sunday evening, November 23, 2014.
Ray was born in Meshoppen, PA. on April 15, 1957 the son of the late Charlotte M. Wilcox Anderson, who passed away on June 16, 2013, and George Anderson Sr., of Wyalusing, PA. Growing up in Wyalusing, Ray was a 1975 graduate of the Wyalusing High School. After his high school graduation he enlisted and was a member of the US Navy, from July of 1975 until July of 1979.
For the last 33 years, Ray was employed by Blue Ridge Cable, in Tunkhannock, PA, serving as a supervisor for the last number of years.
He was a member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post # 534, the Tunkhannock Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1276, and a long time member of the N.R.A. In his spare time, Ray loved hunting with his family and friends, golfing with co-workers, and the yearly golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, for a number of years. Over the years, he was a member of many bowling leagues, at the Mountainside Lanes in Wyalusing, and softball teams, playing in the Tri-Co. League in Silvara, PA., and many tournament teams, in the Wyalusing, Montrose, Tunkhannock and surrounding areas. Also playing horseshoes with his many friends at picnics and family outings was a favorite past-time. Being a great Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan he attended many races, camping and enjoying the fellowship of his fellow race fans. Ray enjoyed traveling, most recently to Hawaii and San Francisco. Being a Man of Few Words, until he got to know you, and having a Great Sense of Humor, Ray enjoyed life to its fullest, loving to be surrounded by his family and his many friends.
Beside his father, Ray is survived by his wife of five years, the former Debra L. Hizny Anderson of Dallas, PA., his two sons, Matthew and his wife Mackenzie Anderson of Tunkhannock, PA.; and Nathan Anderson and Tara Lane of Forkston, PA. His step-children, Shannon Drudge, of Ocala, FL; Michael McGuire, of Wilkes Barre, PA. and Jennifer Tierney, of Philadelphia, PA. Ray is also survived by his five grandchildren, Austin Anderson, and Abby Anderson, of Tunkhannock, PA.; Brandon Burgess, Adyn Anderson and Conner Anderson, all of Forkston, PA. his brother George and his wife Jeanne Anderson, of Tunkhannock, PA. as well as several nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Kevin Anderson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 4:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA., with Pastor Vickie Ellis of the Beaver Meadows United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park in Dallas, PA. at a later date at the convenience of the family. Military services will be conducted at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Park in Dallas, by the members of the Wyalusing American Legion Post # 534.
