Obituary

Mr. Richard A. "Dick" Jayne, age 72, of Laceyville, PA (North Flat), passed away on Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2016, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, in Wilkes Barre, PA.

Richard was born in Sayre, PA, on August 1, 1944, the son of the late Frank C. Jayne; who passed away on February 2, 1990, and the late Jean L. Allen Jayne, who passed away on July 9, 1974. Richard lived his younger years, in the Meshoppen area, attending school in the Elk Lake School District.

Dick married the former Nancy J. Foux, on October 1, 1962, and together they raised their two children, and would later work together for many years.

Dick started working for P&G Paper Products in Mehoopany, PA, for over 5 years, working in their warehouse. He later joined the family business, Jayne's Vending, working throughout the 1970's into the early 1980's. In 1978, Dick then went into the antique business. This was Dick's dream job, a job that he wanted to get in to, from his early childhood. Dick was a very knowledgeable and highly regarded, in the antique business. Dick and Nancy owned and operated Indian Hill Antiques, just outside of Laceyville, for many years, and later dealt with antiques at the Apple Wagon Antique Mall, just outside of Tunkhannock, PA. Throughout the time he and Nancy had the shop; Dick also was a Rural Mail Carrier, having routes out of the Meshoppen, Stevensville, LeRaysville, Sugar Run, and Laceyville Post Offices.

Dick was a very active member of the Laceyville Business Association, was a founding member of the Endless Mountains Antique Dealers Association. And spent many hours, volunteering his time and efforts to the Laceyville Baseball/Softball Assoc. In his spare time, he enjoyed the time that he got to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout the years, Dick could be seen at many of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and other school activities. But it was Dick's passion to deal antiques; he loved attending antique shows, and auctions, where he found many treasures.
