Richard "Dick" Paul Ferguson, age 88, of Herrickville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Dick was born on September 12, 1929 in Glen Campbell, PA the son of the late George and Katherine Filer Ferguson. Dick attended Lower Marion High School. He was an excavating contractor and he owned and operated Dirty Deal Contracting. On November 3, 1947, he married the former Joan Cherksey.

Dick was a S.A.L. member of the Wyalusing America Legion Post #534 as well as the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #6824. He was a former member of the Towanda Gun Club. He loved to gamble and play scratch-offs. He was an avid reader, hunter, fisher and card player. He liked hanging out with the guys and having a good time. Dick enjoyed having a garden and watching birds. He was a great cook and fantastic baker, as he was known for his apple pies. But most of all Dick loved spending time with his family.

Dick is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan Ferguson of Herrickville, PA; his children, John Ferguson and his wife Linda of Herrickville, PA; Michael Ferguson and his wife Eleanor of Herrickville, PA; Carolyn Ferguson of Montrose, PA; Gary Ferguson and his wife Kathleen of Stowell, PA; Tim Ferguson and his wife Brenda of Herrickville, PA; William Ferguson and his wife Jennifer of Wyalusing, PA; son-in-law John Parrish of Westerville, OH; his grandchildren, Kevin Scholl, Kimberly Brown, Kristi Adams, Kelly Ferguson, Michael Ferguson, Laura Little, Lisa Holdridge, Stephanie Ferguson, Molly Ferguson, Kerry Hitchcock, Donald Ferguson, Abby Ferguson, Karin Ferguson, and Christopher Ferguson, as well as 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great- grandchildren with another one on the way. Also surviving are his sisters Jean Kramer of Ohio, Joyce Dortone of Philadelphia, PA, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Ferguson Parrish (d. February 17, 2016); brother, George Ferguson; brother, Harold "Jack" Ferguson; sister, Lois Mitchell; and sister, Joan Hamilton.

Funeral services for Dick will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA with family friend, Thomas Hiduk, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow at the East Herrick Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 until the time of the service.
