Ricky was born in Meshoppen, PA, on December 12, 1951, the son of the late Nelson Peter Benninger, who passed away on December 10, 1990, and Freda McMicken Benninger, who passed away on July 12, 2000.

While living in South Auburn, Ricky's parents owned the South Auburn Store, where he enjoyed spending time with everyone that came in. Ricky loved all of the neighorborhood families that came in, and would challenge anyone to a game of checkers, a game that he had mastered. Ricky also had a massive collection of pennies, which he loved handling and stacking. He enjoyed listening to the Roger Furman Band, and would play along on his drum, and also enjoyed dancing to the music. In his spare time, Ricky enjoyed rug making, and fishing whenever anyone would take him.

After the passing of his father, Ricky and his mother went to live at the Davis Care Home, and soon after the passing of his mother, Alice Davis and her family of the care home took Ricky into their hearts and loved and cared for him. Also those who worked at the home were also an important part of his life. The Davis family enjoyed Ricky and would include him on many trips and outings. Ricky especially loved the yearly trips to Wildwood, NJ. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Boston Celtics, and would let it be known to everyone how his teams would stack up to their favorite teams.

In his early life Ricky and his parents faithfully attended the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA.

Surviving is his uncle, Howard Benninger of Laceyville, PA. and many first, second and third cousins. Also surviving is his extended family of the Alice and Ray Davis Family and their employees of the Personal Care Home in Lynn, PA and the many friends of Ricky's throughout the area, especially the many families of the South Auburn area.
