Rita M. Herlt, age 83, formerly of Merryall, PA passed away Saturday morning, December 4, 2021 at the Bradford County Manor in Troy, PA where she had been residing for the last few years.

Rita was born on April 12, 1938 in Williamsport, PA the daughter of the late William E. Litz (d. 1975) and Doris M. Smith Hamilton (d. 2012).

She was employed as a Nurse at the Williamsport Hospital for many years.  She was also employed with at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital and as personal care giver for many local residents.

Rita was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Towanda, PA.  She volunteered for many local organizations and enjoyed doing various crafts.  Rita always took care of other people and gave to those in need.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Richlin (John) of Laporte, PA; her grandchildren, Michael John Chatburn and Aaron Herlt; her sisters, Cindy Springman (Gary) of Montoursville, PA and Debbie Hamilton of Williamsport, PA; her sister-in-law, Virginia Barto of Lewisburg, PA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and special friends.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Herlt, Sr., whom she married on November 30, 1957 and were married for 40 years before he passed away on October 4, 1998; she was also preceded in death by her twin daughters on June 11, 1961 and her son Harry R. "Richard" Herlt, Jr. on June 24, 2021.

A Graveside Service will be held for Rita on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Camptown Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Barry Ballard of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Rita's name to the Bradford County Manor, 15900 US-6, Troy, PA 16947.
