Robert "Bob" E. Clapper, age 86, of 579 McMicken Rd, Meshoppen, PA passed away, Thursday evening, February 20, 2014 at his home, in Meshoppen twp., Wyoming Co., PA. Bob was formally of Retta, PA.
Bob was born on June 24, 1927 in Towanda, PA, the son of the late Lloyd Joseph Clapper (June 25, 1985) and Florence Howard Clapper (November 9, 1995).
He was a graduate of the Laceyville High School with the class of 1944. After high school Bob served his country for 24 years in the US Air Force. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the US Air Force in 1972 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Bob then moved back to Wyoming County and worked for Proctor and Gamble before retiring in 1989.
Bob was an active member of the Franklin Lodge #263 F&AM in Laceyville, PA. As a Mason he was a Past Master in 1993, a past Secretary, and a current Trustee. He was also a past member of the Irem Temple. Bob thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Bob is survived by his daughters Barbara Kapolka and her husband Stephen of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Patricia Clapper of Meshoppen, PA; his grandsons Alex Clapper of Meshoppen, PA, Robert Kapolka of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Anthony Kapolka of Wilkes-Barre, PA; his sister-in-law Ruth Clapper of Retta, PA; as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Bob was preceded in death by his wife Muriel Lorraine Clapper (November 5, 1990) whom he married in September 1950, his brothers Lt. Richard Clapper (July 6, 1960) and Donald Clapper (January 15, 2007), and his sister Janice Hammond (2013).
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 5:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, SR 6, Meshoppen, PA with Rev. Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. There will be Military Services preformed prior to the funeral service by the members of the Rought Hall Post# 510 American Legion of Black Walnut, PA, the Dennis Strong Post# 457 of Tunkhannock, PA, and the Endless Mountains V.F.W. Post# 3583 of Mehoopany, PA. The Military Service will be followed by a Masonic Service preformed by the members of Franklin Lodge #263 F&AM of Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM until the time of the services.
