Obituary
Roger Dale Canfield, Sr., age 68, of Mehoopany, PA passed away Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at his home in Windham Township, Wyoming County.
Roger was born in Towanda, PA on January 30, 1945 the son of the late Olin (November 27, 2006) and Elizabeth "Betty" Canfield, Jr (March 30, 2009).
He graduated from Wyalusing High School with the class of 1962.
Roger was a self-employed building contractor with his sons Roger, Jr. and Chris. Canfield Construction has remodeled and built homes through Wyoming, Bradford, Susquehanna, and Sullivan Counties.
Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to go camping with his family around Lancaster, PA and eating at his preferred restaurant the Shady Maple Restaurant. He also loved to camp in Fairhaven, NY which was his favorite fishing spot.
Roger is survived by his wife Marion Johnson Canfield; his sons Roger Canfield, Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Mehoopany, PA and Chris Canfield of Mehoopany, PA; his step-children George Norconk of Towanda, PA, Joyce Dickinson of Mehoopany, PA, and Mary Zickler and her husband Steve of Wyalusing, PA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law Bud Secules of Towanda, PA; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Sandra Lou Murphy Canfield on May 22, 1985, his grandson Roger Dale "Squeak" Canfield, IV on July 25, 2011, his granddaughter Natasha "Tasha" Marie Canfield on August 13, 2012, and his sister Shirley Secules.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Vaughn Cemetery in Mehoopany, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
