Obituary

Mrs. Rosalyn Lucy Bell, 97, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on
February 17, 2018. She was born November 10, 1920 to the late James and Mary (McGee)
McAvoy. Rosalyn grew up in Auburn Center and graduated from Meshoppen High School in
1937. In 1941, she married Joseph Bell and moved to Dover, New Jersey to do work for WWII
at the Picatinny Arsenal. In 1945, they bought a dairy farm in Auburn Center and continued
raising their growing family in the country.

Rosalyn was the matriarch and heart of her large extended family. She was a beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a true inspiration and will be deeply
missed and always cherished. She happily spent her life nurturing and caring for her family.
She loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren perform in concerts,
dance recitals, musicals, and sporting events. She enjoyed any occasion that called for a party
or a family celebration. Simple times gathered around her kitchen table were always special
times.

She was a devout Catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (St. Joachim/
St. Bonaventure) in Meshoppen, PA. She was the oldest member of the parish and was loved
by her church family. She served with the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. Rosalyn
was a patriot and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 510, Black Walnut. She was
especially proud to be the mother of four sons serving our country at the same time. Rosalyn
especially enjoyed being a "Red Hatter." In her local Red Hat chapter she celebrated life with
laughter and friendship and had lots of fun.

Surviving are her five sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Virginia Bell of Lake Carey; David
and Fran Bell of Meshoppen; Bernard Bell of Springville; Rich and Debbie Bell of Mehoopany;
Edward and Debra Bell of Laceyville; two daughters and son-in-law, Marilyn Bell of Auburn
Center; and Phyllis and Charles Fritz of Wilkes-Barre; daughter-in-law; Dawn Bell of Nicholson;
two sisters; May Gilmore of Florida and Catherine Kuras of Sudbury, Massachusetts; 17
grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and
nephews; daughter by choice, Annette Allen; and many friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Bell;
two sons, William Bell and James Thomas Bell; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Bell; great grandson
Mason Neil Bell; two sisters, Florence McAvoy Jacob and Elizabeth McAvoy Randall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20 at 10 AM.from St.
Joachim's Church in Meshoppen, Pa., with Father Joseph J. Manarchuck officiating. Interment
will follow in St. Bonaventure's Cemetery, in Auburn, Pa.

Visitation will be in Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Main Street, Meshoppen, PA. on Monday,
February 19, 2018 from 3 to 7 PM and Tuesday at 9-9:30 AM Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30 PM

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a memorial donations to St. Bonaventure's
Cemetery Association, c/o Roger Furman, 2431 State Route 3004, Montrose, PA 18801.
