Ruth Ann Dunlap, age 74, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away Friday morning, December 1, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Ruth Ann was born on May 5, 1943 in Kingston, PA, the daughter of the late Karl and Irene Sherwood of Meshoppen. She was a 1961 graduate of Elk Lake High School. After high school she attended school in Binghamton, NY before returning to Pennsylvania where she worked throughout her life at various places including the previous dress factory in Meshoppen.

Ruth Ann and her husband, Robert W. Dunlap, who married on June 19, 1970, owned the Mehoopany Dairy Bar before their retirement in 1996. Retirement was spent with family and friends, watching her beloved New York Yankees, and winter trips to Lakemont Ridge in Frostproof, FL, where they enjoyed hosting various events at their home with friends. Her husband of 41 years passed away on April 22, 2012.

Ruth Ann was a member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church and The Order of Eastern Star Chapter #70 of Meshoppen.

Ruth Ann is survived by her children; Dunnie Dunlap and his wife JoAnn of Mehoopany, PA; Wallie Dunlap and his wife Wendy of Mehoopany; Diane O'Malley and her husband Joseph of Tunkhannock; Paul Golden of Montrose; and Lisa Golden (Wendy) of Rochester, NY. Her grandchildren Darin Dunlap (Jennifer) of Mehoopany; Theresa Kivlen (Chuck) of Shavertown; Kelly Cahoon (Brock) of Fleetwood; Clayton Brehm (Madison) of Tunkhannock; Cody Dunlap of New Holland; Mark (Brandy) Golden of Dimock; and Emily Golden of Montrose; great-grandchildren Layla and Andrew Dunlap of Mehoopany; Hudson and Bentley Golden of Dimock; and Emerson Cahoon of Fleetwood. Also surviving is her brother Wayne (Alice) Sherwood of Meshoppen; sister-in-law Eleanor Dunlap as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Helen Duffield Dunlap, who passed away on September 13, 1997 and brother-in-law William Dunlap who passed away on November 27, 2015.

Calling hours for Ruth Ann will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, PA. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
