Ruth Place Weast, age 99, a resident of the Wyalusing Personal Care Home passed away Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2015 at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home in Wyalusing, PA.
Ruth was born on January 10, 1916 on Browntown Mountain, PA, the daughter of the late Homer and Amy Mann Brown. She was the wife of John Place and Dr. Harry Weast. Ruth was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1935. She worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Burns, for many years, in Wyalusing, PA.
Ruth was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Meshoppen Chapter #70 and she was a 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution Mach-Wi-Hi-Lusing Chapter for five terms. Ruth also served as Judge of Elections for Wyalusing Borough. She was interested in flower gardens and enjoyed cooking.
Ruth is survived by her children Barbara Behrend and her husband Dave of Wyalusing, PA; Bob Place and his wife Mary Louise of Mehoopany, PA; grandchildren Bonnie Conrad of Houston, TX; Dave Behrend Jr. and his wife Margaret of Saint Simon's Island, GA; Heidi Behrend (Chuck Birk) of Wyalusing, PA; great-grandchildren Brock Conrad of Houston, TX; Brandy Conrad of Houston, TX; Kelsey Behrend of Saint Simon's Island, GA; Connor Behrend of Saint Simon's Island, GA; Skyler Behrend of Wyalusing, PA; great-great grandchildren Tory, Tara, and Bailey Conrad of Houston, TX. Ruth is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, step-children, and step-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husbands Ruth is preceded in death by her grandson Calvin Rogers who passed away in 1971.
Funeral services will be held on Friday morning, March 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church with Reverend Dale Russell of the church officiating. Interment will be at the Wyalusing Borough Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
