Sandra Ellyn (Bullock) McIntyre, 83, of Meshoppen, passed peacefully on February 20, 2026, after a brief illness at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. Born in Dushore, Sandra was a 1960 graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School and a lifelong member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, St. John’s Chapel in Wilmot, PA.
Throughout her life, Sandra faced hardship and challenges with remarkable resilience—traits forged early while growing up on a farm and strengthened through personal loss, health battles, and life’s daily tests. Friends and family looked to her as a mentor, someone unafraid to share her experiences and to speak her mind with honesty and heart. She was the original “mama bear,” fiercely protective of those she loved and steadfast in defending what was right. Her laugh and radiant smile could fill a room, and her presence brought warmth and comfort wherever she went.
Sandra’s work life reflected her self-driven spirit and willingness to try anything needed to support her family. Over the years, she held positions as a hair stylist, a teacher’s aide, a product representative, a factory worker, and finally a security guard, retiring from Allied Security. No matter the job, she approached it with dedication and pride.
Sandra’s greatest joy was in her family. She and her husband, Paul J. McIntyre, shared nearly 35 years of genuine companionship and love, expressed through simple, everyday acts of care, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a life rich in affection, humor, and mutual respect.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, and her children: Ronald (Gabrielle) Hampsey, Russell (Tina) Hampsey, Rebecca (Matthew) DePue, Kolleen Carroll, Frank (Kimberly) McIntyre, and Carmen (Eric) Eberlin. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gail McIntyre; brother and sister-in-law, Frank A. and Lynn McIntyre; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Sandra also provided loving care to Jayden Rogers, who held a special place in her heart.
Sandra never missed an opportunity to be there for her family, driving children to practices, attending games, covering school pick-ups, caring for the sick, or celebrating every birthday and holiday with her laughter and songs. She never missed sending a card, no matter what the occasion. In her later years, she treasured connecting with loved ones near and far through Facebook, where her daily posts uplifted everyone she knew. Among her many joys was calling those she loved and, often along with Paul, her duet partner, singing her famous, spectacularly off-key rendition of Happy Birthday; a tradition that brought smiles and happy tears in equal measure.
Sandra was predeceased by two infant children, Randall and Rhonda Hampsey; her father, James Bullock; her mother, Marian Eberlin Voda; her sister and best friend, Sharon (Bullock) Vail; her father-in-law, Frank A. McIntyre; her mother-in-law, Rosalyn McGavin Daily; and her brother-in-law, James McIntyre.
Her strength, spirit, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
A funeral Service for Sandra will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Main St., Meshoppen, PA 18630, on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Deacon Raymond Pieretti of St. Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church officiating.
