Stanley H. Franklin, Sr., age (72) of Meshoppen, PA passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 2024 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Born in Meshoppen, PA on March 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Carl H. (d. 1972) and Freda Fenton Franklin (d. 2003).  Growing up, Stanley attended Wyalusing Valley High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and would graduate with the class of 1972.

Stanley spent his first 10 years after graduation working for Vandevort's Feed Mill and farming for Charlie Wandell.  In 1987, he began working for his brother and best friend, Gene Franklin, at Franklin's Farm Service and would spend the next 25 years there as a welder and fabricator.  Stanley was also a Safety Manager at the QPI warehouse in Meshoppen for 8 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere.  Stanley also liked to hunt deer and tending to his flower beds.  More than anything else, Stanley enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving Stanley is his long-time companion, Terri Gates; his children, Shelly Franklin Darling (Floyd) of Springville, PA, Stacey Franklin Hummel (Andy) of Mehoopany, PA, Stanley Franklin, Jr. of Laceyville, PA, and Joshua Franklin (Katie) of Meshoppen, PA; and his stepsons, Christopher Gates (Tracy) of Meshoppen, PA and Ryan Gates (Kristen) of VA.  He is also survived by his siblings, Gene Franklin of State College, PA, Barbara Hoover (Robert) of Wyalusing, PA, Francis Franklin (Leona) of Rome, PA, Bonnie Westbrook (William) of Towanda, PA, Betty Franklin (Ray Yonkin) of Dushore, PA, and Paula Vanderpool (Walt) of Monroeton, PA; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Franklin (d. Aug. 9, 2021).

A Memorial Service for Stanley will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Main St., Meshoppen, PA 18630 with Reverend William Westbrook officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
