Stephen M. Powell, Sr., age 86, of Retta, PA (formerly of Easton, PA) passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at his home doing what he loved to do, work outside.

Steve was born on June 17, 1938 in Easton, PA the son of the late, Anton (d. January, 1963) and Mary Wyjhowski Powell (d. December 1966).  He attended Holy Family High School in Nazareth, PA.

He married the love of his life, the former, Concetta, "Connie" M. Roma, on February 16, 1957 and together they raised three children.

He began his working career as a Union Teamster for 15 years.  Steve then started a trucking company, SMP Inc. in Phillipsburg, NJ and later expanded the trucking company to Provo, UT.  He owned the trucking company for 45 years before retiring.

In his youth, he loved to race cars and was an avid trophy hunter and fisherman. One of his greatest adventures was participating in the Great American Race across the country, driving a 1929 Chrysler with pride. He cherished spending time outdoors in what he fondly called "God's Country," where he felt most at peace. Later in life, he developed a deep passion for golf.  Most of all he loved his family, he was deeply adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who especially loved when he entertained them with his signature "thumb trick"—a simple, silly illusion that always brought joy and laughter.

Steve is survived by his wife, Connie M. Powell; his children, Stephen M. Powell, Jr. of Springville, UT, Jayne Guadagnino and her husband, Victor of Easton, PA, and Curtiss A. Powell and his wife, Michelle of Easton, PA; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandsons, Nicholas Guadagnino, Curtiss A. Powell, Jr. and Johnathan Stockley-Powell and nine siblings.

Steve's wishes were for a private family service with his interment in the Jersey Hill Cemetery.
