Obit for Stephen Lee Walter

Stephen Lee Walter, age 50, of 382 Decker Rd., Sugar Run, PA., passed away at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA on Saturday morning, Jan. 12,2013, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends.
Stephen was born in Sayre, PA. on Dec. 19,1962, the son of William W. and Mary E. Fassett Walter Sr., of Towanda, PA.
Stephen graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School class of 1980. Shortly after his graduation he served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1982 until 1985, as a Aircraft Ordinance Technician.
For over 30 years, he worked in the Pennsylvania Bluestone business, he loved all of the aspects of his job, he always said he had quarry dust in his veins.
Stephen was a member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a very compassionate man, he loved to be outside and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to ride Harley's with his friend, John Kocher, and his buddies. In the fall and winter months, he loved watching his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers with his son, brothers, and many friends.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former Ethel L. Singer Walter, with whom he has been with for the last 27 years. His son Ryan L.K. Walter, and his daughter, Bethany M.E. Walter, both of Sugar Run, PA., and his siblings, William W. (Susan) Walter Jr., of Jenningsville, PA.; Darlene Ellis (Barry Reese), of Wyalusing, PA.; Nancy Walter, of Wyalusing, PA.; David (Linda) Walter, of New Albany, PA.; and Chris Walter, of Wyalusing, PA. as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 16,2013 at 2:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA. with Rev. Lori Robinson officiating. Interment will be in the Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Graveside military service will be conducted at the Camptown Cemetery with the members of the Wyalusing American Legion Post# 534.
