Troy K. Trauger, 59, of Meshoppen, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday morning, January 2, 2024.
He was born in Scranton, PA on April 25, 1964. He was a 1982 graduate from Tunkhannock High School. While in school, he participated in the band and enjoyed playing the trumpet. Following graduation, he joined the Army, serving four years in active duty.
When Troy returned home, he continued in the Army Reserves for 22 years. During those 22 years, he served in Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded many medals during his service, some including the Southwest Asia Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. He was honorably discharged in 2008 as a Staff Sergeant 7.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and was passionate about firearms and ammunition reloading. He enjoyed taking care of the animals at the barn, and watching cartoons with his wife, Tammy Trauger and drinking coffee with his best friend, Jim Pickett.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Trauger of Meshoppen, PA and mother-in-law, Tolise Otis of Meshoppen, PA; brother-in-law, Timothy Otis and wife, Jeanette of Wyalusing, PA; his Uncle Jim Pickett of Meshoppen, PA; Aunt Gwen Pickett of Wyalusing, PA; and Aunt Charlene Smith of Retta, PA. He is also survived by his nieces, Lisa Otis of Wyalusing, PA, Zoe Pickett of Meshoppen, PA, Lilly Pickett of Choconut, PA; and great-niece, Brinnley Nedley of Wyalusing, PA. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold Sr. and Gladys Trauger from Lake Winola, PA.
Abiding by Troy's wishes a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
