Virginia Lenore Loomis, age 92, formerly of Meshoppen, PA passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock, PA where she had been residing for over five years.

Virginia was born on September 22, 1923 the daughter of the late Emery W. and Kathryn Cole Loomis, Sr. She graduated from the Chevy Chase Private School and also graduated from the University of Delaware while majoring in music.

Virginia was a member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, she sang solo hymns during church and it was well known that she had a beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Virginia enjoyed playing the piano and BINGO at the nursing home.

Virginia is survived by her sister-in-law Laura W. Loomis of Drexel Hill, PA; niece Carol Salvucci and her husband Robert; nephew Emery W. "Bill" Loomis and his wife Deborah of East Amherst, NY; niece Laura Fayer of Upland, PA; as well as many cousins in the Meshoppen area and six great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Emery W. Loomis Jr.

A private family service will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Overfield Cemetery.
