Walter "Sonny" Leroy Rought, Sr. age 89, formerly of Wyalusing, PA went home to his Lord and Savior on Mondy morning, January 29, 2024 to join the love of his life, Gloria.

Sonny was born on August 12, 1934 in Sarye, PA.  He was the son of the late Raymond (d. March 16, 1969) and Elizabeth Armitage Rought (d. November 14, 1969).

He lived in the Wyalusing area for many years before moving to The Gardens in Tunkhannock for the last few years.  He was employed as a Logger for Clyde Preston then John and Herb Preston.  He was a skilled Skidder Operator and was well known for his talent.

Sonny took great pleasure going on Sunday drives with his late wife, Gloria.  He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Terry Walters (Lottie) of Liberty Corners, PA, Jamie Walters of Rome, PA, Donna Jenner (Richard) of Evergreen, PA, Vicki Way of Meshoppen, PA, Connie Paris of Meshoppen, PA, and Walter "Sonny" Rought, Jr. (Jacki) of Laceyville, PA; his grandchildren, Terry Walters, Jr., Melissa Walters, Christopher Walters, Brandon Walters, Skylar Walters, Jimmy Walters, Samantha Walters, Jeremy Jenner (Holly), Richard "Bubba" Jenner (Emily Signore), Matthew Jenner, Nikki Jenner, Annalease Donald (Seth), Michele Maynard (Curt), Michael Chamberlin, Chastity Walters, Marie Paris, Dalton McCullough (Adrianna), Trinity Kulick, Vayda Rought, Elijah Rought; many great-grandchildren; his sister, Maggie Ball (Ted Mosier) of Wyalusing, PA; a special cousin Judy Henry of Connecticut; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Rought (d. December 30, 2023); his grandchildren, Terilyn Walters and Christina Paris; his siblings, Jack Rought, Ruth Chilson, Jim Rought, Joyce and Alfonso Cintron, and Martha and Myron Wildrick; and a special cousin, Bob Henry.

Funeral Services for Sonny will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 12:00 noon from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Joseph Kilmer of the Braintrim Baptist Church officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Interment will take place at the Camptown Cemetery.
