Wayne E. Sands Sr., age 77, of Meshoppen, PA passed away early Monday morning January 4, 2016 at the Bradford County Manor in Burlington, PA.

Wayne was born on May 8, 1938 the son of the late Emerson and F. Annabelle Durling Sands Sr. in Towanda, PA. He was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley High School.

He worked for Taylor Beef, now known as Cargill, for over 25 years until he retired in the 1990's. He also worked for the Indian Hill Charcoal Plant and Laceyville, PA. He was married to Marlene M. Conrad who passed away on December 11, 1989. Wayne thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by his family and many friends.

Wayne is survived by his children Lisa Sands of Meshoppen, PA; Brian Sands (Anne Rosencrance) of Laceyville, PA; Wayne Sands Jr. of Somerset, PA; David Sands and his wife Celia of Towanda, PA; and Sandra Owen of South Carolina. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren as well as his brothers Stanley Sands and his wife Debra of Tunkhannock, PA; James Sands and his wife Jodi of Laceyville, PA; Emerson Sands Jr. of Dimock, PA; Larry Olmstead of Tunkhannock, PA; sisters Shirley Proof and Donna Eldrich both of Kentucky. Besides his parents and wife Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Lynn Sands Fassett (2002); son-in-law Eugene Owen (1998); brother Jack Olmstead (1981); brother David Olmstead; brother Robert Sands; sister-in-law Dorothy Sands; sister-in-law Nancy Sands; and nephew Randy Sands.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held on Thursday morning, January 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Lacey Street Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, January 6, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 PM.
