William “Buckwheat” R. Kinney, age 65, of Wyalusing, PA passed away on Wednesday morning, January 7, 2026 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Bill was born on December 3, 1960. He was the son of the late William T. (d. July 20, 2007) and Eleanor Platt Kinney (d. February 1, 2007).

He was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School. He was employed for many years with P&G on the Converting Line.

Bill was a member of the Evergreen Christian Church and the Wyalusing American Legion Post #534 S.A.L. He was very particular with his yard work. Buckwheat, as he was affectionately known by his friends, could strike up a conversation with anybody. He left a lasting impression on everyone, and you could not deny his love for people. He loved to spoil his grandchildren, and they knew they were loved by him.

Bill is survived by the love his life, Marcea Herman Evans, whom he married on December 10, 2007; his children, Charles Evans and his wife, Randi of Stevensville, PA and Stacy Traver and her husband, Michael of Tunkhannock, PA; his grandchildren, Gavin Evans, Charlee Evans, Hollis Traver, and Allison Traver; as well as special cousins, Alan Kinney, Frank Kinney, and Barb Woodruff.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place with his parents at the Wyalusing Borough Cemetery.
