William "Bill" Norman Spyker, age 87, of Wyalusing, PA formerly of Alexandria, PA passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA.
Bill was born on September 9, 1927 in Huntingdon County, PA the son of the late Ida Mae Chilcote and Norman C. Spyker.
He graduated from the Huntingdon High School with the class of 1945. After high school Bill served his country in the US Air Force during World War II. He was a Corporal in the Air Force and was a member of the 1600 AT Wing 12th Weather Detachment in Manila in the Pacific Ocean.
After Bill was discharged from the US Air Force he graduated from the Eckles School of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia. He owned and operated the Spyker Funeral Home in Petersburg, PA for many years.
Bill was a member of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post #520 in Alexandria, PA. He was also a member of the Shriner's in Altoona, PA and the Masonic Lodge and the Towanda Elks Lodge #2191. After his retirement as a funeral director Bill moved to Cape Coral, FL and he loved to go fishing in the gulf. He was also an avid hunter, especially bird hunting with his Springer Spaniel dogs he trained.
In 1993 he moved to Wyalusing, PA to live with his daughter and her family. He then moved to Park Place Apartments on Riverside Drive in Wyalusing.
Bill is survived by his daughter Beth Schulze, of Wyalusing, PA; his son in law Jonathan Schulze; his daughter in law Debbie Spyker of Steamboat Springs, CO; his granddaughters Lindsay Elysabeth of Wyalusing and Elesha Janelle of Wyalusing; his nephew Jeffrey Norris; and many special friends at Park Place. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, William P. Spyker III (May 2014), and his sister Betty Jayne Norris.
It was Bill's wishes not to have any services at this time. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
